Brethren, As we prepare to break for our summer recess, I
urge you not to put Howard Lodge out of your minds until we reconvene in
September. As in previous summers
Howard Lodge will be holding its own summer school of Masonic Ritual starting
in July. Come and support the officers
of your Lodge as they hone their ritualistic skills and keep alive Howard 101’s
tradition of excellence in the Masonic Ritual.
Many of us will also be in attendance at the Grand Lodge’s summer school
of instruction held up at the Grand Lodge of Maryland in Cockeysville. Over the
past several years Howard Lodge No. 101 has had an impressive showing at this
event, with our up and coming officers performing degree work for all Maryland
Masons to learn from. Our representation at this event has always been
exemplary, with Howard Lodge almost always having the most members of any Lodge
in attendance. It would be great to keep that tradition alive so please come up
to “the Hill” to support your Brethren. You should also remember to be sure and
put aside the date of July 10th and bring your family and friends
and attend our Howard Lodge family day picnic. This event has always been a
great time with lots of fun, food, and fellowship for all. Howard Lodge will
also be hosting its first MD CHIP event on August 21st to help
provide the families in our community some measure of protection against the
ever increasing problem of missing children. For updates for these and other
events throughout the year, visit our excellent website at www.howard101.org. I am also planning to use this summer to
provide some much needed cleaning and repair of the Lodge and the Lodge grounds
so call me personally if you would like to participate. In closing, I would like to say that I think
it has been Howard Lodge No. 101’s tradition of practicing our Masonry
throughout the summer, and indeed throughout the whole year, that has made us
such a shining example of Masonry in all of Maryland. Thank you so much for
continuing to make me proud to be the Worshipful Master of Howard Lodge No.
101.
CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE
Brethren:
With Memorial Day rapidly
approaching, my message to you is one of remembrance. As we go through our day
let us all take a few short moments to remember and reflect on all of those who
have paid such a high price for the multitude of freedoms we enjoy. The memory
of those brave members of our Armed Forces, who have given their lives that our
lives may be better, should be forever etched in our hearts as a token of
thanks for their sacrifice. Let also remember the many police and fire fighters
who have put and continue to put themselves in harm’s way to protect the people
we love and the communities in which we live. Finally let us always keep in our
thoughts the Supreme Architect of the Universe, whose love makes all things are
possible, and who continues to protect and bless us by giving us the strength
and conviction to follow a righteous path, and bring his kindness and love to
all we meet.
Fraternally,
ROBERT W. TURNER, P.M. Chaplain
